Marty was a somewhat sadistic individual, often bursting out in laughter at anyone, even random strangers, who has been struck with bad luck. He is also somewhat treasonous, often disobeying Bowser, and one time mentioning to Mario he plots to kill Bowser.

Mario encounters Marty who attempts to kill Mario, as Mario knew of Marty's plan to assassinate the koopa king. After a duel with Mario, Mario defeats him. Marty pleads for mercy, but Mario emotionlessly stomps on him 10 times until Marty's death.
