History[]

Planning[]

After assisting the millitary financially during the Mushroom Revolutionary War, Ploredeita II was given the title of Duke in 1985. After requesting government approval, Ploredeita was finally given a charter to construct a castle in the most fertile region of the kingdom, World 1. After some debate between local farmers and Ploredeita, the castle was decide to be built in World 1-0, were no farmland was present. To obtain the funds needed for stone and other materials, Duke Ploredeita gatthered up a large sum of money, partly from the government and partly from his own funds.

Constuction[]

Construction workers first broke ground on March 8th, 1986, where they proceeded to flatten the surrounding area. Since World 1 was a generally flat area, little work had to be done to prepare the construction site, and a special cerenomy was held to celebrate the laying of the first brick, whom Ploredeita himself set upon the ground. 2 years later, the walls and towers were finished, and work began on the castle's luxurious keep and garden, which were finsihed a year later. Another special ceremony was held to celebrate the laying of the final brick in the topmost tower of the keep, on which Ploredeita himself also layed.

Naming[]

The original name of the castle was Ploredeit Castle, but after King Bowser commenced his first invasion of the kingdom, he named the castle after the current ruler, Princess Peach Toadstool, in an attemp to win her affection. When this attempt failed, he grew extremely angry and remodeled the castle to his own fashions, filling it with lava, magical fireballs, and an infamous labrynth. After Mario and Luigi sacked the castle and rescued the kingdom's ruler, the castle retained it's name. After a severe renovation, all the traps were finally removed. Admiring his own defenses at Peach's castle, Bowser rebuilt his own castle to be almost exactly like the one he used to have in addition.

Invasions[]

Since his first attempt at conquering the empire, King Bowser has invaded the castle numerous times, succeeding at each attempt, yet thwarted by the "Mario Brothers". Other Warlords have tried to conquer the castle, including the infamous Smithy, the "Forge King", although the invasion never got out of the planning stages.

Metro Station[]

A metro station was added in 1996 for the 10th anniversary of breaking ground.
