Derek is a maroon Yoshi that is a normal Yoshi which helps any other Yoshi or Toad.

Yoshis appear in Bowser's Story as enemies. They were ordered by General Toadius to stop Bowser from taking Peach to his castle.
Mario All-Star Sluggers[]
Several Yoshis (and the famous one) appear in Mario All-Star Sluggers as team members (Yoshi is a captain). Their stats are:

Super Mario Adventure []
Yoshis appear in Super Mario Adventure, acting the same as in previous Mario platformers. In this game, Yoshis are a different color for each player.
